Scott Guthrie, VP of the .NET divison at Microsoft today announced their intention to ship JQuery as an integral part of Visual Studio moving forward. Their initial releases of the client libraries for ASP.NET AJAX had largely reproduced functionality already available (and with far wider support) in libraries such as jQuery, Prototype and Mootools. They will now instead focus on building additional functionality on top of the jQuery library.
Microsoft intend to extend their own PSS product support to include jQuery by the end of the year, in addition to shipping updates to Visual Studio to include full intellisense support.
